Provide charitable giving to improve the quality of life for individuals and families through leadership, mentoring, education, economic development and health/wellness in the Fort Bend County and Greater Houston Metropolitan area.

The Membership of Julia F. Thompson, Inc. (JFT) is made up of a very diverse group of professional women from numerous business, community, educational, and civic sectors. JFT currently has over 700 volunteer members who are committed to providing the services and skills needed to accomplish the purposes of JFT.

Applicants must be an African American or LatinX graduating high school senior in the Fort Bend or Greater Houston area.
Applicants must have been accepted to a 4-year college as a full-time student (min. 12 hours) and will be enrolled for the Fall 2025 semester.
Must have an overall GPA of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale or a 4.81 or higher on a 6.0 scale.
Must submit two (2) Letters of Recommendations within the online application:
(1) one letter or recommendation from a school official (teacher, counselor, etc.) and
(2) one letter of recommendation from a community leader (pastor, mentor, volunteer organization director, etc.).

Certified official High School transcript sent electronically from registrar with passcode to scholarship@jftcharities.org by April 28, 2026 OR a sealed official transcript (with official school seal) postmarked by April 28, 2026 and mailed to:

Choose one of the following essay topics (must be 300-500 words) to submit with the application. Mailed essays will not be considered.
1) Describe a significant challenge or obstacle you have faced in your life. How did you overcome it, and what lessons did you learn that will help shape your future?
2) What issue in your community or the world matters most to you? Explain why it is important and how you hope to contribute to solving or improving it in the future.
