Thompson, Inc. (JFT) was established in 1997 to continue her legacy of service to the community. Julia’s lifestyle, career and outreach exemplified the motto, “Service to All Mankind.” Julia believed that education is an open door to greater opportunities and a better future. She attended and excelled at Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, Texas and Texas Southern University, in Houston, Texas. While in college, she became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and engaged in worthwhile service projects. As a Crisis Counselor and Social Worker, she chose to help and serve those who were in physical, emotional, financial and spiritual need. Julia had a passion for helping young people and women as they strived to reach their goals. She also volunteered her time and expertise on various hotlines for suicide prevention, counseling abused women and the chronically depressed. Julia was diagnosed with Scleroderma Disease and had to endure chemotherapy treatment, however she did not waiver in her service and outreach to the community. She provided organizational expertise, leadership skills, and an energetic and sisterly spirit to the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Mu Kappa Omega Chapter. Julia succumbed to Scleroderma in 1985 at an early age of ­­­32. In her memory, members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated – Mu Kappa Omega Chapter in Fort Bend County, Texas, named a scholarship and charitable organization in her honor to carry on the legacy of service to all mankind. JFT, Inc. is supported by over 700 professional women who believe in Julia’s cause to “service to all mankind”.
