The Julia F. Thompson, Inc. organization is committed to education. Through these annual programs we are able to execute the mission of service and education to all mankind.
Economic Smart Fair Held in conjunction with other organizations in the Greater Houston Area, the Economic Smart Fair provides workshops sponsored for the community with various sessions led by presenters from Washington Mutual, Gerald Smith of Smith Graham & Company, and Carla Cargle of Genesis One Wealth Builders. The primary focus of this workshop was to provide literature on wealth building, credit scores, and other useful economic information.
Mental Health Symposium In partnership with William Smith Sr, Tri County CDC, we held a symposium which was held entitled "Breaking The Silence", geared to educate the community on mental health issues, facilitated by a panelist of mental health professionals. A mental health resource directory was created and distributed to all attendees.
Pack The Back In partnership with the Boys and Girls Club, Incorporated, a back to school supply drive is sponsored each year for children in the community.
Science and Engineering Fair of Houston Each year members serve as Special Awarding Agents at the Science & Engineering Fair of Houston. Members judge entries in various fields.
Blood Drive In partnership with MD Anderson Cancer Center, the organization sponsors a blood drive each year in the Missouri City community. Information is distributed to educate the public on donating blood and its benefits.
Reading Is Fundamental Week JFT makes a donation to J. N. Dodson Elementary School for their purchase of library books, as well as conduct reading sessions in conjunction with the national program "Reading Is Fundamental". Books are donated on financial planning and other educational topics to distribute at various events throughout the year.
Outreach Programs Health fairs, holiday gatherings and programs are held for a senior residence center in the Houston area throughout the year. This long-lasting partnership enables the organization to service the needs of an older demographic through financial contributions, education on health issues, and providing enriching social interaction and activity.
Walking To Support The Cause JFT members participate in and raise funds for several charitable organizations through their annual fitness efforts. These organizations include Hope Through Grace, Incorporated, Susan B. Komen, 50 Million Pound Challenge, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and the American Cancer Society.
