Giving History

Julia F. Thompson, Inc. awards scholarships in conjunction with the Mu Kappa Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated on an annual basis. These awards are given to both entering college Freshmen and continuing students pursuing their college degrees.

To date, we have awarded over $150,000 to aid students in achieving their personal and academic goals.

In 1998, the chapter awarded its first $10,000 scholarship to a high school senior.

In 2004, Julia F. Thompson, Inc. was pleased to award its first $10,000 4-year award for academic excellence.

Julia F. Thompson, Inc. also awards funds to the following efforts on an annual basis:

  • Historically Black Colleges and Universities - A $500 scholarship is awarded in alternating years to Prairie View A&M University and Texas Southern University.

  • United Negro College Fund - An annual award of $500 is given to the fund

  • Thurgood Marshall College Fund - An annual award of $500 is given to the fund

We value the philanthropic efforts of these causes and aspire to champion other charitable organizations in the future.
